P&C 2XI 170 – 8 (45 overs)
Rayne 172 – 3 (40 overs)
Following last weeks fine win it was back to losing ways for P&C 2XI against Rayne.
Batting first, P&C were looking to post a good score but as has happened far too often this season the top order failed to make an impact. Only Aylieff (40) showed any real resistance and a fine knock from Hubbard (47n.o) at the end gave P&C a reasonable total to defend. Bicknell was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 28 from his 12 overs.
The P&C bowling attack of Daines and King were very unlucky, beating the bat on several occasions. However the total proved too low as Bicknell completed a fine all round performance scoring 66. He was well supported by Cooper (42 n.o) as Rayne cantered to the target score in the 40th over. Sharpe’s 2 for 41 in 9 overs was the only bowling performance of note.
At the halfway stage in the league P&C require a change in fortune and some consistency if they are to avoid a quick return to Div 4.
