Pegasus & Corringham 128
Springfield 129-4
This lower table clash was a must win for both
teams, and on a rain affected wicket the toss would eventually prove
vital. Having lost the toss and being elected to bat, P&C set about
trying to blast Springfield out of the 28 over a side game. A good start
provided by Hymas (41) and the in form Sayers (21) saw P&C looking
towards a score of 160+. Unfortunately, as with previous weeks,
nobody else in the top and middle order managed to contribute anything worthy
of note as P&C slumped to 128 all out with only Cairns (18) offering any
real resistance lower down. P&C needed to take early wickets and
contain the Springfield reply if a win was going to be achieved.
Six bowlers were used in short spells to try create an opening, but only the
pace of Hymas and Laurie with a wicket apiece ever looked like threatening the
batsmen, as Curtis eased Springfield home with an aggressive 50. Patmore
taking the other wicket.
