P & C’s hopes of promotion disappeared as they lost to top of the table Canvey on Saturday.

Canvey batted first and slumped to 26 for 4 as Matt Cairns took four wickets in an over, including a hat-trick. His final figures were 4 for 51 off 12 overs. However, Gary Burton led Canvey to 258 for 9 with a superb 118.

In reply, 258 proved to be out of P & C’s reach but they gained maximum batting points as they scored 200 all out. Peter Thompson top scored with 62.
