South Weald 242 for 7

Pegasus & Corringham 170 All out

P&C will have to find some inspiration from their batsmen if they are to avoid a battle against relegation after another disappointing display from being in a challenging position.

South Weald elected to bat first and made a positive start in obtaining quick runs as each player contributed towards a healthy final total. Hussain 57 top scored for Weald as each loose delivery was severely punished as Alan Patmore and Neil King accounted for 2 wickets apiece.

In reply an early set back brought to the wicket Gareth Jenkins 33 to join Keith Hawkes 23 who started to unsettle the visitors as the run rate started to increase. However with the departure of Hawkes with the score on 80, what is becoming an all to familiar case this season the middle order failed to live up to their potential and surrendered their wickets far to cheaply. Neil King 31 no offered the only resistance against the in-form Hussain who finished with impressive figures of 4 for 26.

Next weekend’s fixture against undefeated High Roding will be the perfect place to put the batting gremlins to bed and get the season back on track.
