Bentley 205 for 8
Pegasus & Corringham 188 for 8
Both teams were looking to continue their opening match success from last weekend and after an overnight downpour in Brentwood and P&C captain Gareth Jenkins was content in inserting the opposition first. Bentley opener T.Johnson 43 made a positive start but Alan Patmore 12 overs for 26 runs helped to restrict the home side’s progress. G.Johnson 38 and a useful late flurry from Coleman 31 not out ensured Bentley reached maximum batting points. Daryl Hymas was the leading wicket taker with 3 while there was a couple each for Roger Maxted & Danny Laird.
P&C reply began slowly with Wilson and Coleman bowling a tight spell but Ben Francis 47 and Laird 19 started to progress the run chase so the game was evenly poised after 20 overs. Hymas 50 made further inroads but the middle order hit a sticky patch were runs dried up and eventually petered out a disappointing 17 runs short of the target. T.Johnson claimed 3 wickets while there were 2 apiece for Hammond and Wilson.
